We are pleased to announce a familiar face, Wilfredo Hernandez has been appointed Interim Executive Director of CultureWorks Greater Philadelphia.
Most recently, Wilfredo oversaw the Transition Advisory Group (TAG), an internal review of issues related to executive leadership, board governance, business model, space and partnerships/affiliations. TAG presented its findings and recommendations to the full board and staff to begin the process of implementing a plan that guides the organization over the next six to 12 months.
Board President, Michael Norris stated: "Wilfredo's deep knowledge of the organization, both as a former staff member and as facilitator of our recent transitional assessment, makes him the ideal person to take on this interim role at this time. The board is excited to work with him as we continue to define and build the future of CultureWorks."
Wilfredo is the Founder of Communitas Arts + Culture and has over 18 years of leadership experience in the arts and culture sector. He has previously worked for Disney Theatrical Productions (Broadway), Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, NYU, The Field and the Brooklyn Community Pride Center. He received his M.A. in Producing & Directing Theatre from New York University and is currently completing a certificate in the Executive Program for Social Innovation Design at the University of Pennsylvania. He has helped hundreds of artists and organizations strategize for growth and secure significant funding over the past several years (over $1M to date). He is a proud graduate of Race Forward's Racial Equity in the Arts Innovation Lab and the Philadelphia Mayor’s Office on LGBT Affairs’ LGBTQ Leadership Pipeline Program, as well as a recipient of a 2020 Everyday Genius Award from Da Vinci Art Alliance.
