CultureWorks Greater Philadelphia

 

CultureWorks Greater Philadelphia is looking for leaders like you to join our board of directors. CultureWorks is a management commons for arts, heritage, and creative communities — a platform for sharing space, human capital, and services to help artists not only survive, but flourish. With more than 220 members, including 100+ fiscally sponsored projects, we provide equitable access to management resources for both individuals and organizations, the makers and preservers of culture.

Who We Are

CultureWorks is an intentional community of creative and cultural practitioners, a management commons dedicated to providing equitable access to the resources that creative and cultural practitioners in the Greater Philadelphia region need to flourish. As an intentional community, we're committed to helping one another flourish. As a result, we're committed to combating language, belief systems, structures, and practices that oppress or impede the path to flourishing. We celebrate diversity and practice inclusion. We accept members who are committed to their purpose, capable of working collaboratively, respectful of different cultures and differing perspectives, and dedicated to advancing the collective flourishing of the CultureWorks community and beyond.

Who We Are Looking For

Our volunteer board is the strategic heart of our organization, ensuring that our work meets the needs of our members and we have the resources needed to serve them. The CultureWorks bylaws require the board to include both internal (member) and external (business, civic, nonprofit, etc.) representatives. We are looking for energetic, motivated “roll-up-your-sleeves” types with skill sets, experience or expertise in these areas:

  • Nonprofit Management

  • Accounting/Financial Planning

  • Human Resources

  • Real Estate

  • Legal

  • Fundraising/Development/Philanthropy

  • Cultural Production/Creative Entrepreneurship 

  • DEI

What Are the Expectations

Board terms are three years, and there is a two-term limit. The specific expectations of CultureWorks board members are: 

  • Attend four board meetings annually

  • Serve on one of three board working groups: Leadership/Governance, Revenue/Business Model, and Space

  • Champion the organization among your colleagues, peers and other networks

  • Make an annual charitable contribution of personal significance
